Analogix Wins 2004 Product of the Year Award from analogZONE

Santa Clara, CA, January 24, 2005 - Analogix Semiconductor today announced its D-PHY family of SerDes ICs has been awarded the 2004 Product of the Year in the category Best SerDes PHY by analogZONE, the webzine for electronics design engineers that reviews hundreds of products each year.

Introduced in April 2004, Analogix's D-PHY 5G family of backplane SerDes allow designers to extend the life of existing systems by creating new, high-performance cards that can fit into the backplanes of existing customer-deployed equipment. Using advanced signal conditioning techniques -- called WideEye technology - these devices place the signal integrity burden on the silicon rather than the system designer such that standard FR-4 material and backplane connectors can be used and still maintain error-free performance at speeds up to 6.25 Gbps. D-PHY devices contain a robust feature set that includes low-speed and high-speed loopback modes as well as built-in self test using on-chip PRBS checkers.

Lee Goldberg, editor of connectivityZONE, said "we selected Analogix for this award because its unique hybrid architecture gives this 6.25-Gbit/s backplane SerDes superior performance in challenging conditions. It's interesting to note that Analogix's technology is just idling at 6.25 Gbit/s, and is well positioned to move into higher speed applications as the market demands it."

Ted Rado, vice president of marketing for Analogix, said "analogZONE provides one of the most in-depth analyses in the industry, and to win this prestigious award over major competitors such as Texas Instruments and PMC-Sierra is a tremendous honor for Analogix."

The D-PHY backplane transceivers are available today in production volumes in both dual and quad serial configurations. The devices offer a wide operating range of 1.25-6.25 Gbps to allow for backward compatibility with existing lower speed SerDes as well as compliancy with the OIF 6G+ long-reach specification.
