Analogix announces a breakthrough in HDMI transmitter performance, reducing power demands significantly Blurb: The new, ultra-low-power Analogix HDMI transmitter allows users to play high-definition content from a portable device on a Flat-TV or Projector – without draining the battery. As consumers increasingly store more high-quality video content on mobile devices, they will actively seek simple, low-power solutions to play that video on larger, high-resolution displays. “The ANX7150 HDMI transmitter is a unique product that positions Analogix Semiconductor well for the era of high-definition video on portable and mobile devices,” says Dr. Kewei Yang, Chairman and CEO of Analogix Semiconductor. “Through world-wide patent-pending technology, the ANX7150 draws almost all the power it needs from the display itself and not from the battery in a handheld device. In that way, it is the first of its kind.” By getting its power from the external display, the ANX7150 reduces the draw on the battery by up to 95 percent or more compared with products presently on the market. Complies With HDMI Specifications A single-chip solution, the ANX7150 complies with the HDMI 1.2 specifications and includes optional HDCP 1.1 high-definition digital-content-protection encryption. It supports pixel rates up to 165 megapixels/sec, and its flexible video input interface supports up to 24-bit RGB/YCbCr 4:4:4/4:2:2, 4:2:2 to 4:4:4 up-sample/down-sample, and YCbCr to RGB color space conversion. The product, immediately available for sampling, incorporates advanced digital audio with 8-channel I2S support for Dolby™ Digital and DVD audio. It also provides S/PDIF protocol support for PCM, Dolby™ Digital, the DTS surround-sound format and digital audio transmission. Its audio interface permits programmable I2S channel mapping.
