SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--In conjunction with the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) announcement of the Mobile DisplayPort (MyDP) standard, Analogix Semiconductor, the market leader in enabling DisplayPort products, announced a new addition to its SlimPort family of products, the ANX7808 transmitter IC. With SlimPort products, next-generation tablets, smartphones, digital cameras and camcorders can display true full HD (1080p at 60Hz) media on any screen.
“MyDP devices, such as the Analogix SlimPort products, bridge the connection gap between today’s mobile devices and larger displays”Tweet this
The new ANX7808 will allow mobile device systems integrators and OEMs more design flexibility supporting more application processors and audio and video standards, including HDMI input (including 3D video) to a MyDP output over the existing micro USB connector.
“The mobile device is about to become a complete in-the-office and on-the-go productivity powerhouse,” said Andre Bouwer, Vice President of Marketing for Analogix. “SlimPort products overcome screen size limitations, so the mobile device can serve as a formidable alternative to larger sized Notebooks, Laptops and Ultrabooks™.”
Analogix SlimPort products deliver crisp theater-quality HD video, 3D graphics and audio to any HDTV, LCD monitor, or projector via HDMI, DVI and VGA inputs all while preserving the device’s battery. SlimPort products streamline device design by eliminating the need of adding an extra connector to the mobile device, while allowing manufacturers to sell a variety of consumer-friendly display cables and accessories.
“MyDP devices, such as the Analogix SlimPort products, bridge the connection gap between today’s mobile devices and larger displays,” said Bill Lempesis, executive director at VESA. “MyDP gives consumers access to the true Full HD experience they have been seeking from their mobile devices, while device manufacturers and service providers will gain expanded feature and service opportunities.”
Currently, Analogix offers two SlimPort transmitters for flexibility and versatility of device design:
- ANX7808 – Supports HDMI input (including 3D) to MyDP output with integrated USB switch and mobile accessory detect schemes over the existing USB connector of any mobile device.
- ANX7805 – Supports the choice of MIPI-DSI or RGB video input, I2S or SLIMbus or SPDIF audio input to MyDP output with integrated USB switch and mobile accessory detect schemes over the existing USB connector of any mobile device.
As always, SlimPort products are housed in ultra small packages, so manufacturers are not forced to change their own mobile device form factor and the underlying MyDP display interface technology remains totally transparent to consumers. Furthermore, SlimPort products facilitate simultaneous charging of the mobile device while in use, allowing consumers to enjoy their content without the concern of battery drain.
“With SlimPort the entire mobile ecosystem is poised for growth,” added Bouwer. “Consumers can use the business and office apps on a larger screen, carriers and operators can create new custom services and provide a plethora of easy to use accessories, and the media industry can count on a delivering the same great entertainment experience regardless of device size.”
