Analogix Wins 2009 EDN China Innovation Leading Product Award

Analogix Presented with a Prestigious EDN China Innovation Award; Company’s DisplayPort: ANX9805, ANX9832, ANX9841 Product Group Receives the “Leading Product Award” in the Embedded Systems and IC Group

Analogix Semiconductor, Inc., a manufacturer and innovator of high-performance analog and mixed signal devices for the digital media and communications markets, was presented with a prestigious EDN China Innovation Award recognizing its contribution to the industry. The company’s DisplayPort: ANX9805 (DisplayPort Transmitter), ANX9832 (DisplayPort to VGA Converter), ANX9841 (4-Lane DisplayPort Receiver with Timing Controller) Product Group received the “Leading Product Award” in the Embedded Systems and IC Group. The award was presented at the EDN China Innovation Award Ceremony in Shenzhen on November 18.

Launched five years ago, the EDN China Innovation Award strives to recognize the brightest companies working in the most innovative technologies in China. The winners in each category are chosen via a rigorous scrutinizing process by a panel of experts, and then widely voted upon by an audience of engineers and engineering managers.

“We are very pleased to receive this recognition by EDN and its readers,” said Dr. Kewei Yang, Chairman and CEO of Analogix Semiconductor. “This award highlights our continuous commitment to delivering high-performance mixed-signal devices focused on meeting our customers’ wide-ranging requirements.”

The first product in Analogix’ winning product group is the ANX9805, a DisplayPort Transmitter certified by VESA in 2008, and which is fully compliant with the DisplayPort 1.1a specification. It has shipped more than one million units since its launch. It includes HDCP encryption for content protection and provides all the signal requirements for the DisplayPort Source device receptacle. It can be used for video output applications in a PC or PC graphics card, or in embedded applications such as inside a notebook PC or DTV to drive the internal flat panel display interface. The device is used extensively in demand applications such as medical systems, where rendering the highest image quality is paramount.

The next product in the winning Analogix group, the ANX9832, is the world’s first single chip solution that enables a low-power, low cost, small form factor DisplayPort to VGA Converter. Unlike other solutions, the ANX9832 does not require additional microcontrollers or memory to function, offering a significant reduction in the bill of materials and making it ideal for low cost dongles. It’s fully compliant with the DisplayPort 1.1a specification, works with both single and dual mode DisplayPort transmitter products, and converts the signal to a VGA compatible signal that can connect to a vast array of existing equipment. Integrated into the ANX9832 is Analogix’s advanced WideEyeTM SerDes technology, which allows for data reception over long and/or low quality cables, and provides added performance margin to assure the system can maintain broad interoperability in any environment. The typical operation power of the ANX9832 is less than 400mW. With its advanced feature set, high integration and low power, the ANX9832 is ideally suited for low cost DisplayPort to VGA dongles and enables Desktop PCs and notebooks equipped with DisplayPort to connect to VGA displays and projectors.

The final product in the winning group, the ANX9841, is a high performance, low-power 4-lane DisplayPort Receiver with TCON designed to support WQXGA (2560x1200) resolution with 10-bit color depths for flat panel monitors and TVs. It uses proprietary circuit techniques to reduce total system cost with high speed mini-LVDS or RVDS interfacing. The ANX9841 is fully compliant with the VESA DisplayPort 1.1a specifications and OEM requirements including MCCS, BIST and PWM dimming. Eight-channel programmable I2S audio interfaces provide very flexible digital audio DAC connectivity from 32KHz to 192KHz sampling rate. Built-in MCU provides programming flexibility of GPIO panel control timing with external flash and I2C EEPROM. LBADC is fully capable to support the DDM monitor keypad control requirement. It also includes HDCP encryption, compliant to the HDCP 1.3 specification. The ANX9841 can also be used with the ANX9805 to provide end-to-end interface connectivity as DP-TCON or receivers with 48-bit TTL/Dual channel high-speed LVDS output.
